Fast DDS Integration Example: Streamlining Robotics with LARGE_DATA Mode

Join us for eProsima's demo featuring the seamless integration of Fast DDS's latest LARGE_DATA mode into distributed systems.

This demo showcases how easy it is to integrate LARGE_DATA mode into our robotics environment, enabling efficient handling of large datasets. We illustrate this by setting an environment variable and demonstrating real-time data transmission from our robot to the computer in RViz.

We’ll introduce the key players: the ROSbot XL by Husarion, the RPLIDAR A2,  and an Orbbec Astra RGB-D camera. For this scenario, we utilize the ROSbot XL's Orbbec Astra camera for autonomous navigation and mapping, leveraging the navigation stack of ROS 2.

Discover how to configure Fast DDS's environment and launch the ROS 2 packages, allowing the ROSbot XL to move around the environment and create a map seamlessly.

We also discover how to configure LARGE_DATA mode on the computer side to launch RViz and monitor the real-time flow of large data packets streaming.
