Mobility

Many people imagine a humanoid robot when talking about robots, but a robot is just a set of sensors and actuators or, using the dictionary, a machine capable of carrying out a complex series of actions automatically, especially one programmable by a computer

Is an autonomous train, a car, or a drone a robot? Yes, they are, and our middleware products are used in these cases too. Let’s see some examples:

Deutsche Bahn - Autonomous Trains:

Sensors4Rail w400eProsima's ROS2 components (Vulcanexus) were the perfect choice for Sensors4Rail, Deutsche Bahn's flagship project aimed at revolutionizing the perception capabilities of German trains. With eProsima support, DB successfully equipped an S-Bahn Hamburg train with advanced sensors, cameras monitoring over 28,000 points, and a highly precise localization system, laying the groundwork for future development of automated and smart rail systems.

PX4 Autopilot - Powering dozens of commercial drones:

px4 w400PX4 is an open source flight control software for drones and other unmanned vehicles widely adopted and powering dozens of different commercial drones. eProsima middleware products is used to communicate the autopilot modules with the companion computer in charge of high level tasks such as image and video processing, business logic, etc. This Bridge allows to use ROS2 modules in the companion computer.
